J.E.M.S. Luxury Shoe Co. was born from a promise, forged through adversity, and refined by resilience. Our story begins with two extraordinary women - my mother, Mother Hardaway (TooT), and my Aunt Evelyn - the original "shoe queens" who taught me that great shoes aren't just accessories; they're investments in confidence, style, and self-expression.
THE PROMISE
In 1995, when the Nike Air Penny 1s dropped, I learned a valuable lesson. My mother's words still echo: "Don't ask me to buy you shoes until your name is on them." Twenty-five years later, I founded J.E.M.S. Luxury Shoe Co. to honor that challenge - now she has to buy my shoes because my name is literally on them.
THE PASSION
My love affair with fashion began in middle school, sketching evening gowns and buying my first pair of heels with my mother's emergency credit card. Fashion wasn't just interest - it was my language of creativity and care. This passion led me to design my first shoe, the HRH, in New Orleans in 2017, marking the beginning of what would become a transformative journey.
THE TRIALS
Life tested my resolve. In 2019, devastating losses - my grandmother's passing and the sudden death of my spouse's best friend - sent me spiraling into addiction and despair. My 2020 launch failed as the world shut down, but those dark moments taught me that true luxury isn't just about beautiful products - it's about the strength to rise again.
THE REBIRTH
April 19, 2025, brought another devastating loss that could have broken me. Instead, it became my phoenix moment. In my darkest hour, surrounded by grief, I found my true design voice. With five years of sobriety as my foundation and the prayers of my aunt as my strength, I completely reimagined J.E.M.S. Luxury Shoe Co.

Today, J.E.M.S. represents more than luxury footwear. We are a minority, veteran, LGBTQ+, and Black-owned business that stands for:
